From Sleep Deprived To Can't Sleep Enough With Fybromyalgia

by Clare
(Wales, UK )

I was diagnosed with Fybromyalgia 5 years ago and slowly over the years my sleep has become less and less to the point of having no sleep to maybe an hour at night.

Then about 3 weeks ago I started sleeping better to the point now that I can't sleep enough. I spent nearly all of the last weekend asleep but when I was conscious it was all I could do to stay awake.

I don't understand how I flip from one extreme to another. Either way I'm still tired but it feels different than it did before. Before I still struggled to remember things but at least I could concentrate and function more or less normally, now I can barely concentrate at all.

I'm still not sure what changed everything as my meds haven't changed, but there has been a increase in customers in work, so maybe that could be why. I'm so tired when I get home that it's straight to bed as soon as my husband is walking through the door. I wish I could resolve this one way or the other as I can't keep going like this with a husband that frequently works away and looking after 3 young children.

A Note On Visitor-Submitted Questions:

Publishing sleep stories and questions from our visitors is meant to create a forum for open and proactive dialogue about an extremely important portion of our lives (one that occupies 1/3 of it and affects the other 2/3) that isn't talked about enough. It is not meant to substitute a trip to the doctor or the advice of a specialist. It's good to talk; it is not good to avoid consulting someone who's profession it is to help you with this kind of stuff.

If you are in any way concerned about your sleep health, don't wait for an answer on here, and don't necessarily rely on them. See a sleep specialist in your area as soon as possible.
