Halloween Party Nightmare (S&D)

by Daniel Scherer
(Stanford, CA, USA)

I was carrying my baby cousin and walking with my little brother to a family Halloween Party. When we arrived, I saw my girlfriend and the rest of my family there dressed up. My girlfriend and I had ninja costumes on and my dad was wearing a butler costume. I also noticed a guy dressed up as a very scary doctor. He had on a bloody doctor's coat and was holding a chainsaw in one hand and a severed foot in the other. I didn't recognize him as being a part of my family but it didn't seem weird to me that he was there.

Then we started the family Halloween costume contest. My dad, the scary doctor, and I were all announced as finalists. Then someone announced the scary doctor was proclaimed the winner. At first, my dad and I were upset that we didn't win the contest but then we started to realize that the guy in the doctor costume was not a person in our family. He wasn't even wearing a costume. It was all real. The blood, chainsaw, and severed foot were all real.

As everyone realized he didn't belong, he began to attack us. Everyone started to run but he began killing the people nearest to him. I watched him chop my brother and my cousin in half with his chainsaw. He then began to come after me. I turned and tried to run as fast as I could but my legs seemed very heavy. No matter how hard I tried, I couldn't out run him.

I turned around to see if I had gotten away, but he was right behind me. This scared me and caused me to trip over my feet. I fell to the ground and turned to see the murder. He raised the chainsaw to kill me and as he began to swing it down at me, I awoke in my bed with my heart beating extremely fast in my chest.

A Note On Visitor-Submitted Questions:

Publishing sleep stories and questions from our visitors is meant to create a forum for open and proactive dialogue about an extremely important portion of our lives (one that occupies 1/3 of it and affects the other 2/3) that isn't talked about enough. It is not meant to substitute a trip to the doctor or the advice of a specialist. It's good to talk; it is not good to avoid consulting someone who's profession it is to help you with this kind of stuff.

If you are in any way concerned about your sleep health, don't wait for an answer on here, and don't necessarily rely on them. See a sleep specialist in your area as soon as possible.
