Help! Five Year Old Daughter Forever Crying At Night!

by Katie Kidd
(Plymouth Devon )

My eldest daughter is a nightmare to get to bed we have a good routine of story, clean teeth, etc, start going up at 7.30pm but she doesn't settle til 9pm. Then she will wake four more times in the night, some due to night terrors and sleepwalking.

As a mother I am already on antidepressants and suffer from anxiety due to the past when we got wrongly accused of neglecting our daughters and they were almost taken away from us, so when she screams "I'm scared" we will get reported. We have already had neighbours complaining as well.

Me and my husband are getting really worried and concerned. don't know if this is relevant to her sleep problems but when she was 4 she went up to her grandparents and fell off a 6 foot wall head first and had a concussion but no one did a scan to check if everything was ok.

My youngest daughter is sooo tired as well and because her sister is always screaming and shouting etc, she suffers as they share a room. We also notice she seems very jealous of her younger sister but don't know why as we always give them the same amount of love, affection, and time every day and night. Most days my eldest daughter is so hyperactive we are so exhausted and worried any advice would be really appreciated.

Jesus Christ! Get your daughter's head checked out immediately! She may have headaches from the previous head injury! And for God's sake, please don't let your little one suffer in the same room... Let her sleep in your room! Wow.

A Note On Visitor-Submitted Questions:

Publishing sleep stories and questions from our visitors is meant to create a forum for open and proactive dialogue about an extremely important portion of our lives (one that occupies 1/3 of it and affects the other 2/3) that isn't talked about enough. It is not meant to substitute a trip to the doctor or the advice of a specialist. It's good to talk; it is not good to avoid consulting someone who's profession it is to help you with this kind of stuff.

If you are in any way concerned about your sleep health, don't wait for an answer on here, and don't necessarily rely on them. See a sleep specialist in your area as soon as possible.
