I Must Have This BAD

I have actually known about this condition for several years and have tried all the tricks to help it but to no avail. For me it's not just a late time to go to bed, it's a later time every day. If I go to bed at midnight and wake up at 8 am, I can get going and have a good normal day. But that night no matter what I try there is no going to sleep before 3:30 or 4 am. So if I can sleep till I wake up normally it's right around 12 midday the next day and my day is normal but I cant get to sleep until 8 am. It's always between 3-4 hours a day extra or less however you look at it.


My usual week is staying up all night on Sunday night and Mondays and Tuesday night and Wednesdays, going to bed not long after getting home on Mondays and Wednesday. Thur and Fri are usually way out of whack and these are my rough days. Then I catch up on sleep all weekend and start it all over by getting up around mid afternoon on Sunday. Then the following week it all moves back a day.

Sleeping pills make it worse and I end up staying up for days. I have built alarm clocks with big speakers, nothing. The only way to wake me up is with some one doing it. And eventually I will subconsciously figure out how to block them out and have to get a new person. They are usually pissed with me by then anyway.

My current boss comes to my house and beats on my window until I let him in and then I go get ready only to find him waking me up on the bathroom floor sleeping an hour later, pretending to be in the shower. I sleep so hard that I can count on one hand the number of times I have awoken in the middle of sleep, my entire life.

I have lost every job I have ever had, messed up high school, screwed up relationships, ruined friendships and almost missed the birth of my son.

Luckily I went to night school recently and it was a match made in heaven and hope to get a third shift job. And see how that goes.

I can give one piece of advice to some with a lesser degree of severity. Keep your home temp comfortable where you can sit around in light clothes and when you get cold and feel you need to get a blanket go to bed. If you can figure out how to stop your mind from racing you can get to sleep.
