Male Overheating And Tingling Every Night (No Sweats)

I am overheating and getting tingles but no sweats every night. My overheating very predominantly comes on in the early hours of the morning; every morning Grrrrrr.

I am NOT SWEATING. My skin doesn't feel excessively overheated except where insulated by the mattress or head on the pillow. The heating is in the core of the body and the head where it touches the pillow but not generally in the arms and legs. I took my temperature once and found it to be normal. Must try again as I may not have done it properly.

Ambient temperature is a catalyst but not really a cause. Hot summer nights (say 20 degrees plus celsius) mean the heating comes on earlier and is more persistent than say single figure temperatures. When the heating comes on (between 1 am - 6 am typically) I can get up and lie on a cold leather couch with a sheet only then swap to a different leather couch etc etc. The cold leather dissipates the heat after a while and by swapping couches I can keep the surface cold.

I do all sorts of things to dissipate the heat. In winter I just try to keep as uncovered as possible which helps to minimize. I have to strike a temperature balance to get to sleep initially.

The sleep deprivation is distressing and it's every night. Its about heat but it also has a discomfort a bit like "pins and needles". It's a discomfort more than a pain. The issue is in the torso of the body and upper arms mainly. Its like I need to jump into a fridge for a while then I can get back to sleep. When I go to bed I am normal but I know what's coming and it's like the tide it always comes. So let's hear what advances we can make because this seems to be uncommon and my Doc has yet to come up with anything to relieve the symptoms.

For the past 6 months I have searched for answers. Three doctors appointments, blood tests and urine (adrenalin) checks so far have no answers. Relentless internet searching has found few people with common symptoms. Lots of menopause issues and HRT etc but I am a male in his 60s. I am really keen to find answers and others with similar issues where we can compare and help each other. One other gentleman has commented on this site with the same symptoms.

Answers/suggestions please.

I have the same symptoms. My wife says its like a wall of heat she can feel from a foot away. It keeps her awake all night along with myself. Every thing I've found on line is about medipause for women or a inballace of hormones/ testosterone along with stress in men. Have not been to a doctor for this only because I do not whant to be lead down the wrong road without some other explanation.if anyone has any information on this it would be appreciated.
I work in construction and when I talk about this with guys I work with they look at me like I'm nuts.

You have almost perfectly described my problem, much more exactly than I could. I don't have the tingling(yet), but sex, age, and symptoms and time of day are all match. Searching for cold leather, ditto.

I am up early today because I was so hot and agitated I had no choice. I want hear anything that might help.

I am a 44 year old male and experiencing the exact same symptoms. I would description it as overheating at night without sweating. I also wake up feeling overheated and agitated. Its getting worse and worse. Most articles on the internet talk about the menopause, clearly not helpful in this case.

I don't drink, smoke or take any medication at all. I'm baffled.

Exact same symptoms NEW

I am 71 years old man with exact same symptoms you guys described. I feel like my thermostat is not working well, and my physician couldn’t find a reason for this issue.

I have hi level of platelites, so one of my thoughts (I am an engineer) was that my "thicker" blood flowing through my blood wesels (similar to pipelines) creates more resistance and ultimately higher temperature. It’s simple hydraulics, but I am not sure if this "theory" could be applied to my body as well.

I have two leather sofabeds in my living room, and I am doing the same as you. I tried icecream, cold drink etc. No help. Have anybody tried a cold shower before going to bed? I am going to do more tests and let me know if anybody get closer to find the appropriate answer.

Night overheating

I have the exact same symptoms except the pins and needles. I wake up to find that my body is giving off excessive heat but do not sweat. As mentioned in a previous comment I also can feel the glow of heat around me. I have no explanation for this however I do suffer sleep paralysis and sleep apnoea so I wonder if this maybe linked.

I would join the choir here and say I experience the same symptoms as everyone here has stated. For me no matter how cool the ambient temp is I will still overheat, even with a fan blowing directly on me. I have get out of bed and sit in the living room for a about 45 mins before the heat seems to reduce. Staying in bed will only prolong my overheating until the morning and it's time to get up. Really frustrating, I have not found the source or reason why this is happening. Changed my mattress, pillows, blankets, no change. Really frustrated with this.

I've had the same issues as the rest of these gentlemen. I find when I wake up from it, my heart is beating rapidly, too. The only thing I have found that helps somewhat is to (1) eat a very light, low-salt dinner (porridge works well) no later than 17:00 (5:00 PM) stopping all food intake after that, and (2) have absolutely no alcohol.
