My husband and I are having a hard time with our 21 month old. He had a traumatic birth but has been healthy since then with the exception of sleep. Even when he came home from the hospital he was waking every 20 minutes to 1 hour. I've tried everything. Every sleep technique you can think of.
Most kids will go to sleep once Mommy or Daddy climbs in bed with them but not my son. He still cries out every 2 -4 hours all night long. My eldest sleepwalks and I know that my 21 month old son has night terrors and now I have a 5 month old to aid further in MY sleep deprivation!
I'm becoming concerned that this will affect him more the longer it continues but I can't seem to get any help from the medical services here. We live so far away from any sleep clinic and I'm feeling lost. Every one tells me he'll grow out of it but when? We've been hearing it since he was born! What do I do?!?!?!

Publishing sleep stories and questions from our visitors is meant to create a forum for open and proactive dialogue about an extremely important portion of our lives (one that occupies 1/3 of it and affects the other 2/3). It is not meant to substitute a trip to the doctor or the advice of a specialist. It's good to talk; it is not good to avoid consulting someone who's profession it is to help you with this kind of stuff.
If you are in any way concerned about your sleep health, don't wait for an answer on here, and don't necessarily rely on them. See a sleep specialist in your area as soon as possible.
