Night Terrors On And Off For About 5 Years

by Marilyn
(Bend, Or.)

My husband told me, that I had 3 night terrors last night. I am a 70 year old women who also has sleep apnea and uses a CPAP machine. These events have been going on for about 5 years.

My dear husband is seldom able to wake me up. Once I had one while sleeping in our RV in a RV park. We found out the RV down a couple of spaces heard me and I am glad they did not call the Security Guard. :^)

I thought these terrors would go away after I started using my CPAP machine. Not!

I do not remember any traumatic events that might have left a terrified impression with me.

Beside the fact that my mate is not getting a uninterrupted nights sleep, I am not either. I have not read the postings from other people in this situation, but can you recommend a therapist or sleep specialist that has SPECIAL TRAINING in this area of care?

I live in central Oregon. Most of our medical professionals work in Bend.

A Note On Visitor-Submitted Questions:

Publishing sleep stories and questions from our visitors is meant to create a forum for open and proactive dialogue about an extremely important portion of our lives (one that occupies 1/3 of it and affects the other 2/3). It is not meant to substitute a trip to the doctor or the advice of a specialist. It's good to talk; it is not good to avoid consulting someone who's profession it is to help you with this kind of stuff.

If you are in any way concerned about your sleep health, don't wait for an answer on here, and don't necessarily rely on them. See a sleep specialist in your area as soon as possible.
