Trouble Sleeping Since Childhood And In Need Of A Good Night's Rest!

I have had trouble sleeping at night since I was a kid. School was always hard for me, I could never stay awake for it. I have changed my life around it because of it. I became home schooled so I could study at night. I always got a job in the mid-afternoon or a night shift.

Sooner or later, around the time I was 17, I found that I could sleep at night when I listened to the sounds of rain. I could plug in headphones and turn on a couple hours of rain fall and I could sleep if I could hear it. If the headphones fell out, I would wake up.

Now, I don't know if this has anything to do with it but there is only one reason I can think of that would give me such an issue. When I was a very, very young child, my mother and her girlfriend were very abusive. Since I was so little at the time, I can only remember a few of the things that they did to me, though I know that there was so much more then I remember.

As I said before, I don't know if this is the reason why. I started having this sleep issue after my father and step-mother had basically saved me and my brother (for lack of better word). When we moved to our knew home 12 years ago is when my sleep trouble started.

I am 18 now and I have made myself cope. Its hard to live with little sleep but I have been doing it for so long that it's just a habit now.

However, I do wonder what its like to get a full night's rest.
